EV Charging Guide

Options to consider for a EV charging set up that best suits your needs, your car and your household power supply.

Surface Mounted Chargers

These chargers offer a faster charging rate, most offer functions for charging when you have solar surplus and also other smarts.

Portable Chargers

These are great for charging on the go. These can also be paired up with a 15amp or 32 amp three phase socket for faster charging at home. Great for longer distance drivers or road trips.

Do you have three phase power?

If so, you might want to consider these chargers to future proof your set up. Bear in mind only a few cars support faster three phase charging (often 11Kw up from 7Kw)

Not sure if you have three phase power? Check out our guide or send us a picture of your fuse board (text or email). See the cars that currently support three phase charging (includes the Tesla Model Y and MG4 long range)

Tether or untethered?

Tethered chargers are cheaper overall. Untethered have the benefit that you can replace the charging cable only if it gets damaged.

Also, some public chargers require you to bring your own (BYO) cable, so it can be handy to have one on the go.
